Methods for Login and Logout
The article below describes the different methods to login and logout of Shopfront between transactions within the sell screen or when a user chooses to logout manually.
Please note that Shopfront will request the user to enter both their Username and Password to gain access after a long period of inactivity.
Login Settings
Sign In Type
You are able to choose between two Sign in type options for logging into Shopfront, these options you can select are Type username and Select user.
Type Username
The Type Username option will display a text box on the sign-in screen that requires you to type in your username.
Select User
The Select User option presents a list of all usernames and user images on the sign-in screen for you to select from.
For both options, you can choose to require a password or login without a password.
To view or modify your Sign in type follow the steps below.
- Open the Menu
- Select Setup
- Select General
- Select Company
- Navigate to Login After Sale
- Choose your preferred Sign in type
- Select Save
Additional Login Settings
Shopfront also offers additional security options for your login to ensure that you have a greater degree of control over your security. The available settings are listed below.
Name | Description |
Mask username | When Type username is selected, the entered text will be masked with asterisks, similar to password entry. |
Require password | Requires a password to be entered every time that a user attempts to log in. |
Require password on first login of the day for each user | Requires users to enter their password when signing in to a new device for the first time each day. Note: This setting is only visible if Require password is disabled |
Logout Settings
Automatically Log Out After Every Sale
Logging out between each sale allows staff using a single register within the same shift to have their sale assigned to their username and have their user role applied when logged in.
To logout the user between each sale, follow the steps below;
- Open the Menu
- Select Setup
- Select General
- Select Registers and choose the register
- Toggle to activate Login After Sale
- Select Save Settings
- Press Save
Manually Log Out Only
It may speed up the process between sales to stay logged in unless you choose to log out manually. This option is used when a store has only one staff member per shift on a register.
To stay logged in between each sale, follow the below steps.
- Open the Menu
- Select Setup
- Select General
- Select Registers and choose the register
- Toggle to deactivate Login After Sale
- Select Save Settings
- Press Save
Auto Logout Time
This feature enables an automatic logout when the application is left idle (inactive) for a nominated period of time. Shopfront counts inactivity from the time of the last activity, including mouse clicks and keyboard presses.
- Open the Menu
- Select Setup
- Select General
- Select Company
- Navigate to the Login After Sale Section and
- Enter the amount of time in seconds under Auto logout time.

Auto Logout During a Sale
If enabled the application will automatically logout even when a sale is present on the sell screen.
