Synchronising Your Data
Shopfront constantly synchronises your data in the background so you'll likely never notice it unless a large amount of data has changed, in which case you may see a message at the top of your screen that shows Performing a large synchronisation.
During this period, you will still be able to use Shopfront as normal. If you are accessing Shopfront on the device for the first time or the data has been cleared, you may need to wait until this message disappears for your products and data to be accessible.
Force Synchronisation
Whilst it shouldn't be required under most circumstances, there are certain times where a force synchronisation may be necessary, the potential reasons to run a force synchronisation are listed below:
- A promotion created on another device isn't activating
- A product or barcode that exists in the product file isn't scanning or searchable
You can force the synchronisation from the Online globe within any page on Shopfront.
- Select the Online text or globe symbol in the top right corner
- Select Force Synchronisation
Clear Local Data
If a product has been deleted on a device but remains on another device even after a page refresh/reload or routine synchronisation, you will need to Clear Local Data on the device that the deleted product is still appearing on.
It's important to note that if prompted with pending uploads after selecting the Clear Local Data you should attempt a Force Upload otherwise data will be lost.
To check for pending uploads follow the steps below:
- Select the Online text with the globe symbol in the top right corner
- Select Force Upload
If the message Nothing queued to be uploaded is displayed, it is safe to Clear the Local Data by following the steps below:
- Select the Online text with the globe symbol in the top right corner
- Select Clear Local Data
If the Force Upload fails to clear the pending uploads then please contact our support team.
Once the data has been cleared, your username and password will need to be re-entered, and the time taken to synchronise the data will vary depending on the amount of data stored and the speed of the internet connection.
