What is Offline Mode
When your device can no longer connect to the internet, Shopfront enters Offline mode. This allows you to continue to use the sell screen while your device is offline. Once you regain internet access, all sales you have made since going offline will be uploaded, and all changes made will be synchronised.
In Offline Mode, you cannot use any of the pages outside the sell screen. This includes modifying products, receiving stock, and running reports.
Your Internet status can be viewed at the top right of the screen, beside the notification and user icon.
Offline Sale Backup
If your device is Offline, it's nice to have an Offline Sale Backup in place, as this will prevent you from losing any sales information if data is cleared or deleted from your browser. This can occur due to certain browser settings, programs like CCleaner, or manual clearing of browser history or site data.
Setting up an Offline Sale Backup
To create an Offline Sale Backup:
- Select the Online/Offline icon located in the top right corner of the page
- Select Offline Sale Backup
- Select Set Backup Folder
- Select the location that you wish offline sales data to be saved to (e.g. C:\Shopfront\Sales)
Once set up, if your device goes offline, backup copies of any sales made will be stored in this folder. If the browser data has been cleared, the backup data will be uploaded automatically when your device is back online.
Manually Restoring a Backup of Offline Sales
In certain situations, such as when a device cannot reconnect to the internet or if the backup location was changed while offline, you may need to restore the offline sales manually. If you would like to do this, please follow the steps below.
- Select the Online icon located in the top right corner of the page
- Select Offline Sale Backup
- Select Restore Backup
- Select the base folder in the backup folder e.g. C:\Shopfront\Sales (not the folders or files within it), and select Select Folder.
- A pop-up will appear to confirm the number of sales found in the backup, and if you wish to proceed with the import, you can select Continue to import and upload the sales to Shopfront.
- For sales successfully uploaded, the message Successfully imported backup sales will be displayed on your Shopfront page.
