Shopfront supports a huge range of combinations for creating promotions. Due to the amount of combinations possible, we've split promotions into two parts, Express Promotions and Advanced Promotions. Express Promotions should be used where possible as they are easy to use whereas Advanced Promotions are complex but extremely powerful.
Some reasons for using Express Promotions over Advanced Promotions:
- They're easy to understand
- They're quick to create
- Typical promotions can be created in Express
Now that you've decided to use Express Promotions, let's get into the details.
Creating an Express Promotion
Navigate to Menu > Marketing > Promotions and select the + Add Promotion button in the top left corner. You can now follow the steps in the creation wizard or select skip and Express to be taken directly to the promotion edit page.
1. Name the promotion by typing into the text field
Note: Selecting skip will allow you to choose between an express or advanced promotion, without going through each of the below steps.
2. Set dates by selecting dates from the respective calendars
3. Select a promotion category
4. Select a type of promotion. The following steps will relate to the type selected here.
You'll now be presented with the promotion details screen, these can be edited later if you change your mind.
|Name||The name of the promotion, this is available to see everywhere in the POS|
|Start||The start date of the promotion, this is an inclusive date (will start on this day)|
|End||The end date of the promotion, this is an inclusive date (it will stop running after this day)|
|Category||The promotion category this promotion is a part of|
|Available To||The customer group this promotion is available to|
If you would like to test your promotion, you can do this using while editing your promotion by using the promotion simulator.
Once you've finished setting up your promotion, press Save in the bottom right corner.
Additional Promotion Settings
Once you've created the promotion, the promotion modify screen appears which presents the same configuration options as the promotion details screen with a few additional settings.
|Active||Whether the promotion is actively running or not, if you wish to suspend this promotion, disable this option|
|Type||The type of promotion this will be, either Price Override (buy x for $), Discount Percentage (buy x and get % off) or Discount Amount (buy x and get $ off)|
Note: Only products and families support the Price Override type, using brands, categories or tags will be disabled if the Price Override setting is selected.
Creating a Promotion Line
Once you've setup your promotion and set the Type, you're able to start adding items to the promotion. If you've selected Price Override, search for products and families, but if you've selected any of the other types you can search for products, families, categories, brands and tags.
After selecting a product or classification you can then specify the details of the promotion.
|Quantity||The quantity required to purchase to activate the promotion|
|Discount Amount||The amount to discount the price by (only visible for Discount Percentage and Discount Amount promotion types)|
|Promo Price||The price to total sell the item for (only visible for products and families)|
|Rebate||The rebate amount you are being provided to reduce the cost of the product|
If you've made a mistake and want to delete the row, click on the x at the end of the row.
Once you've finished creating your promotions, press Save Promotion in the bottom right hand corner of the page.
